Former senator Panfilo Lacson considers running for presidency in the May 2016 elections, reporters confirmed the statement yesterday.
Last 2004, Panfilo Lacson lost his bid for presidency, but gets a positive rating in surveys for senatorial and presidential elections. Panfilo Lacson, however, said his final decision to run for presidency will depend on many factors, he did not specify the following.
He ran for presidenct as an independent in the 2004 elections but lost to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Returns for Senate in 2007 and served until 2013.
Lacson released a statement to confirm, "If you are asking if I have the intention, yes, I have the intention".
Panfilo Lacson said he is currently relying on the support groups, particularly from the police and military, when THE STAR asked if he had a political party has sought an alliance with him. He also added that the police and military are "not involved with the politics". Lacson also served as a national police chief before he was elected senator.
President Benigno Aquino III appointed Panfilo Lacson as presidential assistant for recovery and rehabilitation in Yolanda-devastated areas. He completed his task as PARR chief last year.
Panfilo Lacson is currently discussing the factors with old and new political regional leaders, coordinators and volunteers.
In the senatorial surveys Former senator Panfilo Lacson is one of the highest in the ratings, researchers reported.
