An elderly person from Tugeugarao City died from heat stroke.

Ramil Tuppil of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA) in Isabela province reported a heat index of 43.6 degrees Celsius yesterday, up from Wednesday 42 degrees.

Five other patients with cases related to a heat stroke attack, they were admitted in the Santiago City Adventist Hospital.

However, the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (ESU) of the Department of Health's regional office here received three heat stroke death reports yesterday, Van Aaron Taguinin from ESU refused to confirm until this is verified on the ground by their field officers in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya and Santiago City, Isabela.

The office of Civil defense regional director Norma Talosig, advised residents to drink plenty of water and wear light clothes to prevent perspiration.

She also mentioned the people should refrain from drinking alcohol, because liquor enhances dehydration that may lead to a heat stroke.

ESU also reported of a 55-year-old farmer Edwin Galupan, who was by his farm on Tuesday and a 62-year-old grandmother Bannawang Lucas who also died from heat stroke.
